Hi andyvdv,
your brachiopod belongs to Order Strophomenida. The habitus looks like a Leptaena.
Regards, Jürgen

Hi,
the brachiopod is a Cyrtospirifer verneuili (MURCHISON, 1840). The formation of the locality Barvaux-sur-Ourthe is Upper Devonian, Frasne, Schistes de Barvaux.
Cheers, Jürgen

Have you tried the paper listed in the LINK?
Bantz (1970). Der Fossilinhalt des Treuchtlinger Marmors. Erlanger geol. Abh. H.82.
It should give you sufficient information.
Cheers,
Jürgen

Hi again,
the enclosed picture is an example of such a trace fossil from Lower Jurassic (Angulatensandstein) of south Germany.
If the matrix is not a sedimentary stone, then it might be an geological object.
Cheers,
Jürgen

Hi Hidde,
I think this is a trace fossil. The resting imprint of a sea star. However, in this case the stone should be a sedimentary rock. I know such trace fossils from Jurassic formations.
Regards,
Jürgen

Hi astrid10,
the brachiopod is probably a Concinnithyris cf. subundata from the Lower Cenoman (Petit Blanc-Nez Formation).
Cheers, Jürgen

Hi,
the brachiopod is deep in the matrix and the real size is also not known. But it could be a Rhynchotreta cuneata. This brachiopod is e.g. known from the Wenlock of Gotland.
Cheers,
Jürgen

I have the same opinion as Oliver. It is probably a Ancistocrania comosa. The attached figure is from Bosquet 1859.

Can you please give some information on location (findplats) and/or formation (Silurian?). Otherwise it will be difficult to identify your brachiopod.
Cheers, Jürgen
