Need Help With Fossil Identification!

Hello,

I found this a few years back in Kansas, United States. I believe all of this area was under water. Looking at the images you can see ridges and squarish shapes (breathing holes?) Also you can see 4 or 5 large sinking gaps in certain areas almost like voids or breathing holes (very rough and sharp). I believe it is some sort of sponge or sponges joined together. But curious if any one else has an idea??

It is approximately 14" x 14". So it is not small and weighs around 20-25 lbs.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan..

Did you get pictures again, from several different angles, to get a better look.
I hope in a way as it could help to see more detail.

Regards,
Hengky

I might well be wrong, but I suspect this is a clay mineral formation (an unusual nodule). Something about it just doesn't 'feel' right for a sponge...

Hope I'm wrong :D
