That was my initial feeling too. But these things all appear to be a bit more tapering, compared to orthocerids.
FossilDude schreef: 13 apr 2021, 16:56 Perhaps these could be conulariids cf. Paraconularia. The size and general tapering shape would match...
After having had a bit more of a look at conulariids (hadn't heard of them before), I think you're probably right: the tapering, line patterns, slight depression in the middle... It all matches up (sources: 1, 2, 3, 4).

To my eye the presented pieces don't resemble conulariids or cephalopods very much.
But I can't tell you what it could be instead.

Best wishes,
Oliver

Thank you very much everyone, I almost confused you.

I think Orthocones is the best identification.

Patrick

To elaborate a bit on @patrick ichthyosaurs's answer, a knowledgeable member on another forum was able to inform us that the only conulariid that occurs in the area these finds were made in is Paraconularia, which morphology doesn't match these finds. Moreover, the conulariids at this location are apparently much rarer than orthocones, which increases the chances of the fossils indeed being the latter.

OK, thanks for the extra info.

Cheers,
