Re: Ammo I.D
With some "close-up" pictures I could have a look in my books.

Re: Ammo I.D
Hey,
I have had a look in my books and I think it might be a species of amonite called Psiloceras, but I am far from sure. I would advice you to google Psiloceras and see if the pictures match your specimen. If it turns out not to be Psiloceras (which is highly likley) I have got absolutley no clue what it could be. I will already include one of the pictures of a psiloceras on which i based the above conclusion.
Greetings,
Hamilcar

Re: Ammo I.D
Hi,
I looked it up and it looks very similar. Thanks for the ident!
It's my birthday today (13th September) so I received some fossils, like a bison jawbone, Madagascan copal, and a whale ear bone.
Again, thanks for the identification.

Happy birthday than!
If there any insects in the copal you should definetley look at it under a stereo-microscope! (I did that with mine and it makes it look even more beautifull)

Re: Ammo I.D
Hello Odin, the ammonites are probably Cretacious and Psiloceras is a lower Lias(Jurassic) ammonite, so it will probably be another ammonite...

Re: Ammo I.D
Hi all,
first, the copal does contain insects, so i'll be looking into that, and i'll also be looking into more ammonites for it to be. Thanks both of you!

Re: Ammo I.D
Sorry, I just found out these are not ammonites, but a worm called Rotularia concava. (jurassic)
