Fossil Herring of the Greenriver Formation

[Cambrian]

Paleo Friends:

One of my important fossils sat on one of my bookshelves, overlooked during the cataloging and photography of my other fossils. The herrings fossilized during the Eocene Epoch in the Green River Formation and shown in the photograph below swam in an ancient lake in southwest Wyoming. These fish, like Phacops and my favorite bivalve, now sit prominently in the paleontology section of my library.
