New member - photographing fossils specimens
Greetings to all from New England area of USA.
I am excited to find your website and since I really want to learn to document my fossil collection with digital photography, I was disappointed that I do not speak or read Dutch. This topic may also be in the wrong category but the website questions/suggestions seem to be in the Dutch speaking section.
I was wondering when the "Photography" section will be translated to English?
I do not mean to be forward and will help any way I can since I would like to learn how to create the same quality and detail in the photos that many members have already posted.
I have collected from the Paleozoic up to the Jurassic and have been to the Montana duckbill dinosaur nesting site of Jack Horner.
Thanks.

It is mostly about photographing minerals, but all those techniques can be used with excelent results for fossils too.

Hi, Paleobear.
Thanks for that link. That looks extremely helpful. I can't thank you enough. I'm also talking to Herman to see if I can assist in translating the photography section of this website too.
Good luck fossil hunting and may erosion never end.
Brent

Yes it is. The only thing that I don like there are the cheesy backgrounds. But it is up to you how you use the background. I personally prefer a simple dark one. Look here, one of my efforts:

If you have any questions related to macro photography, don`t hesitate to ask! Il try to help:)
