Fossil Crabs from New Zealand
Fossil Crabs from New Zealand
Hey everybody. I got back from a trip to australia and New Zealand about 2 weeks ago. I had a wonderful time in Australia, but once n NZ I did lots of fossil hunting. Ive wanted to go there for the last 12 years and find some of those super nice Tumidocarcinus crabs. I actually found some, and met two other guys who are going to send me some more! Wow!!! Here are some pics of the first one I prepped. Its got some problems, but the bigger two rock in the first photo should be better and have less problems? Enjoy

Hello Ron,
very nice,
I was wondering where you have been all that time. Did you get bored of the ammonites from your own location?
How long have you been in Australia and NZL?
Greetings

Re: Fossil Crabs from New Zealand
I was in Australia for 2 weeks and celebrated my 50th there. Drank lots of beer and ate lots of good food, then went to NZ for 1 week, (not enough time) and had another wonderful time. And no, not tired of the ammo's here, just wanted to go over seas for 12 years and finaly did it. Will be hunting for some big placenticeras next year sometime not too far from here. But here is a couple of pics of a crab known as Trichopectarion greggi that is exstreamly hard to find with any leg or claws so I did purty dang good finding this one! Very very hard to prep cause the shell material is EXSTREAMLY soft!!!

Hi Martijn, I was quite a ways away from chris so we were not able to meet up. You mention that you have one of those Trichopectarion crabs? Is there any way you can send a picture to my email address? ( ronfossil58@msn.com ) I would love to see it.

Here is yet another crab that I just finished yesterday. Its the rust colored rock on the left in the very first picture on this thread. Plus, ive already started my last one and it looks like it may be another really nice one?
