Question: How would you remove pyrite off Pyritysed wood?

Hi Odin,

You could also ask how to remove the stone out of a rock...
I am afraid it will not be possible without destroing the fossil, and i presume that is not your intention.
Leave it as it is, and when the pyrites goes rotten, you`ll probably have to throw it away...

OK then I will just try with the varnish. Oh well, it couldn't be much worse. :(

Hi Odin, I am afraid it can get worse; the stuf that comes out pyritised material when it goes rotten, is called melanterite and is highly toxic.
Please always wash your hands thoroughly after handeling such material!

I will do! But it has made a rusty stain on the patio. It is all in the shed.
