Prognathodon curri?
Wie help mij deze tand te determineren. Ik heb hem gekregen als Prognathodon curri ( Herkomst Khouribga - Marokko) de lente is in totaal 12 centimeter. Ik weet dat afzonderlijke tanden moeilijk te determineren zijn, maar ben benieuwd naar jullie mening.

De morfologie komt overeen met Prognathodon curri, dus ik denk dat je wel goed ziet met je determinatie! 
Geïnteresseerd in alles wat te maken heeft met Natuurhistorie, paleontologie, zoölogie, geologie en evolutie.

Zonder twijfel een P. currii. Ik heb deze tand ook al eens gezien, en hij heeft wel een bijzonder dikke wortel. Maar, zoals Ken al aangaf, de morfologie komt geheel met de genoemde soort overeen:
- Tand van een durofage mosasauriër
- Rechte tandkroonranden, licht mediolateraal samengeperst en met lichte zwelling aan de basis
- Geen anteromediale zwelling
- Messiale en distale snijranden
- Geen sulci (inkepingen)
- Elliptische dwarsdoorsnede
- anastomiserende ribbels
- Hoger dan lang

Bardet et al. (2016) "Durophagous Mosasauridae (Squamata) from the Upper Cretaceous phosphates of Morocco, with description of a new species of Globidens" geeft trouwens ook een nuttige korte omschrijving van de tanden van Prognathodon currii.
