Anther super nice sphenodiscus!!!
My youngest son also found this beauty! The guy who inviteded us to this dig actualy took this ammo off one side of the concretion that it was stuck onto and broke it off and glued it onto the other side of the rock making it a much better and bigger ammo!! Just frigin amazing!!! I still have to prep this one out also and make it look like its on fire! I cant wait. Just a super ammo!!! Enjoy

Re: Anther super nice sphenodiscus!!!
I would make a 13 hours drive to find one like this, and I guess a lot more of us would!
Great discovery, a piece worth to be in a museum.

I would!!
Niets is leuker dan fossielen zoeken met vrienden :)
Re: Anther super nice sphenodiscus!!!
Hey folks, here are some pictures of some of my \'lessor\' sphenodiscus ammos. I still have a couple more steps of prep to do on them, but im using these ones to practice on before I get the nerve to tackle my really good ones!! I dont mean to sound so spoiled, but its super nice to have been able to find nice fossils as these!!! And even more fun to be able to prep them! Enjoy

Re: Anther super nice sphenodiscus!!!
Finally, I got around to getting most of the prep work done on the ammonite in the top picture. Took alot more work than I thought it would take, but im quite pleased with it now!

Truly amazing Ron. How was the prepping done? Did you document it?

Re: Re: Anther super nice sphenodiscus!!!
Hey Frederic, about the only documentation was that I took photos of it. I have documented my much more important fossils in the past with all the pertinent info, but most of that stuff was donated a couple of years ago.
and Gerrit, wouldnt it be funny if I did use paint to color this fossil? Ha!!

Hi Ron,
you allways amaze me with your ammonites, \"holy banana batman\" - as Robin would brilliantly state it. But I have a question as a non-ammonite-dude: are those ammonites part of a ironstone nodule ? It seems to me that they are but I can\'t be sure.
Enlighten me
