IDENT PLEASE
IDENT PLEASE

Hi Folks
I found this at the foot of the cliffs at Hunstanton, North Norfolk, England.
The shiny object (detailed on photo ...B) is translucent.
I think that it's a belemnite but I haven't seen one like this before.

Re: IDENT PLEASE
Skorpion,
It defenitely looks like a belemnite, but I'm not entirely sure. I think that some more photos from different angles can help a lot. Try taking one from the side and another one from the ends of it. But judging from this photos I'd say it's a belemnite.
Greetings,
Bram.

Re: IDENT PLEASE
HI Bram
Thanks for that.
Unfortunately, no more photos, I've misplaced the item.

Re: IDENT PLEASE
Yep that's a belemnite alright, in the second picture you can just see the inside of the broken front part (lower left).

Re: IDENT PLEASE
This looks like Neohibolites minimus attenuatus which is a common belemnite within the Hunstanton red chalk. I have several examples within my own fossil collection.
