Hallo iedereen,vanavond wat leuke vondsten gedaan in het gruis,dit Dolfijnetandje(Denk ik)is er ééntje van.Kom ik zeker niet vaak tegen in het strandgruis.



Nog een leuke vondst voor mij althans,was een stukje kaak van een Zeeduivel,waarom Zeeduivel,wel er zit nog een tand in vast.


Verder nog wat leuke tand fragmentjes met kartels die ik niet kan thuisbrengen,voor mij wel spannend omdat ik ook al wat tandjes heb gezien,en ik weet niet wat het zijn,ik zal maar wachten tot ik een volledige tegenkom.

Klopt, leuke vondst. Denk niet dat hij verder op soort te brengen is.

Olivier schreef mij hierover:

"For odontocetes it is often very difficult, or even impossible, to identify a species, a genus, and often a family based on isolated teeth, which are usually considered as non-diagnostic by paleontologists. There are exceptions, for example in phocoenids, with spatulated teeth, or squalodontids, with more complex cheek teeth. Please keep this in mind when reading my comments. Furthermore, the level and age of these teeth are usually not known, right? So we cannot compare them more precisely with known odontocetes from a given level.
These teeth match rather well the eurhinodelphinid morphotype. Some platanistoids also show rather similar teeth. And it is impossible to determine the genus or the species."
