WANTED for research! Parasitic fungi in amber

Hi all!
I am a Swedish researcher trying to track down some amber specimens with insects, millipedes or ticks infected by members of the fungal order Laboulbeniales. These are microscopic (in most cases) fungi that form strange protruding fruiting bodies on e.g. beetles (mainly ground and rove, but also on many other families), higher flies (mainly members of the superfamilies Ephydroidea and Sphaeroceridoidea, but also several other families), cockroaches, bugs (Hemiptera), termites, ants, earwigs, millipedes, crickets, thrips and some mites (order Mesostigmata). About ten years ago the first and so far only finding of an infected animal (a diopsid fly) was discovered in Baltic amber. My aim is to find more fossilised Laboulbeniales in amber and I am kindly asking all members of this forum to aid me and also to spread the word. If you got interested and want to know more about this subject please contact me at hesund(AT)yahoo(DOT)se and I will send you some articles and photos of Laboulbeniales.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that some of you will contact me!

Below are som links to photos of these fungi so you get a clue waht to look for. The last four links constitute an article describing the first and only finding of these fungi in amber.

Best regards,
Henrik

Hi Henrik,

Looks a very interstng project! I have myself no amber specimens, but I'll forward your message to a friend that collects insects in amber.
Do you also have a page that describes your project? Are you also on researchgate or Academia? That may give people more info on you and your project.

All the luck with your research!

And welcome to this forum!

sincerely, Stijn

Hi Stijn,

Thanks for your reply. Good to hear that you will spread my appeal! And no I do not have a homepage. I know I should but I never take me the time ti create one. I am at Researchgate but unfortunately do not provide much information there either, I'd better improve...

Best regards,
Henrik
