Unknown fossils, they were found in the ballagan formation in southern Scotland, it is in mudstone, it shows fine laminations on the side.

I do not think they are flute casts as they seam to have something infilling them such as the "creature"

They will be carboniferous.

I think they are ichnofossils or trace fossils (they are one and the same). In this case the remains of the burrows of some kind of burrowing creatures.
