Wat is nu de meest aangenomen stelling vwb de Hexanchus gigas. Wel of niet?
Een jaar of 10 geleden dacht ik ook dat er twee soorten voorkwamen, maar dat bleek toen weer incorrect te zijn en dus alleen H. griseus zou correct zijn. Maar nu zie ik dat bijv Steph (mister Hexanchidae ) wel weer H. gigas erkent. Kom vertel me nu maar eens hoe de vork in de steel zit.

Ik denk er ook zo over. Zo blijf je etiketjes aan het verwisselen.
Ik ben ook benieuwd wat het resultaat nu is.

As far as I am concerned, there is no clear and well-defined answer. Some say gigas is valid, others protest.

For me, I honestly don´t see any difference between gigas and griseus, so I am of the opinion that gigas is no reall single species but rather " a stage" of Hexanchus´ evolution. I would call the fossil "gigas" griseus, too. But who am I?

Btw, if I use gigas, it has 2 reasons: Either I write gigas/ griseus, so it´s just a synonyme for me and I could use both names, or it´s even much more simple: I forget to say griseus because I am used to gigas. A year or 2 ago I thaught there is a difference in them, and wrote gigas, and I am still used to do so, although it might be not correct:P

You could call that inconsequent, I would rather call it scatterbrained:D

Hahaha, that's exactly how I think about it. I do sure hope someone else will come up with some 'new' relevations

H. gigas is een synoniem van H. griseus (CAPPETTA, 2006).

Vroeger dacht men dat gigas (vandaar de naam) zoveel groter was dan de moderne griseus. Maar er bestaan echt wel hele grote griseus, met lower laterals van 4cm of meer.
