Is this a seed or a nut or even an egg?

Hi Chaps - Its fair to say that I dont know anything about fossils but I am interested. All of this is stone in 3 layers before the nut thing in the middle, my daughter found it in the river in Macclesfield, Cheshire, UK.
I can take more and better photos if required, would love to know what it is, thanks.

Hey.

I am sorry to say, but to me this is not a fossil. It looks like an iron nodule. Some people like to call these 'ironstones'. It is a concretion of iron minerals (often hematite (Fe2O2) and goethite (FeO(OH)), mostly formed when in sediments iron comes in contact with water.
